Arjun Birdi

4th Year Electrical Engineering Student

Who Am I?

My name is Arjun Birdi, I am graduating Electrical Engineering from Carleton University in April 2017. Although I may be green on the outside, my side projects and constant pursuit of my interests have given me extensive knowledge and applied skills in various areas.

Throughout my university career, I have participated in several extracurricular groups, the most notable being the IEEE Carleton Student Branch. Through that organization have worked on projects small and large ranging from contributing the betterment of academic and further learning of other engineering students as well as pushing the boundaries of me own skills and knowledge.

Through IEEE Carleton, I have been able to progress from being a volunteer to a leader of my fellow peers becoming the Branch Technical Director, being the lead organiser for the SPAC17 (Student Professional Awareness Conference) and be the head of logistics for Ottawa’s First MLH Hackathon, CUHacking.

Though I have dabbled in many different areas of hardware and software, my specific fields of interest include the following:

  • Development on Altera & Xilinx Based FPGA Products including Cyclone and Spartan based products

  • Hardware design and integration of DSP. RF and other digital modules/components at the schematic and PCB level

  • PCB Design, Verification and Testing through programs including Altium Designer, OrCad and Eagle

  • Development on Atmel, TI and ARM Based Microcontrollers including ARM Cortex M0 and TI C6000 DSP modules

  • AC-AC Energy production, generation and transportation within buildings and distribution centers
